Cathy sat on her bed, exhausted from her quarrel with her husband. How could he do that to her? She was lost. Zach wasn’t one to use subtle means to achieve his aim; he took a more direct route. Her thoughts niggled at her, which made her frown. It did not make sense to her at all.
Zach did not want to panic, but he could not help being afraid for his dear wife. What had happened to her? Had she screamed for help while he was revisiting the past? Zach was actually not asleep when Cathy returned. He had been waiting for her and only pretended to be sleeping in order to give her some space. He had heard all her movements, and he had deliberately put his arm around her and whispered that he loved her. What he did not understand was why she cried her heart out till she fell asleep.
