Prayer is one of the most personal, powerful acts of faith. After pouring our hearts out to God in prayer, we seal everything with “Amen”. It’s like the full stop at the end of this sentence – we use it to end our prayer politely. But in the spirit, “Amen” carries more weight. It’s a declaration, a sentence in itself – a word that says, “I believe it’s done.”
However, sometimes, we do not see immediate results after making such a powerful declaration. When that happens, we become discouraged and we question whether our prayers make any impact at all.
Amen is Not the End of Praying
One thing we need to realize is that prayer is not just about asking; it’s about aligning. And “Amen” does not mean we should stop praying. Rather, “Amen” is the response to the signal we receive in our spirit that it is done. It is about communicating with God until you feel the shift, not just in the atmosphere, but within you. That is the victory note.
The victory note is the whisper, the calmness, or the quiet flame burning in your spirit. That is when you know that your prayer has been answered. In that moment, the Holy Spirit confirms to your own spirit that it is done.
Keep Praying Till You Get It
The victory note doesn’t always come immediately after we pray. However, that does not mean we should pray and do nothing else. Life is full – there are jobs, studies, meals, and other moments that require our attention. But we need to carry the spirit of prayer with us throughout the day. Therefore, as we eat, we continue communing with God. While preparing those slides, keep your heart open for the answer from the Most High. Remain prayerful in spite of whatever activity you perform during the day. Don’t be in a hurry to leave the conversation with God because, just like any conversation with your friend, God wants you to hear Him as much as He hears you. So, stay with Him. Wait for that victory note. And when faith meets fulfilment, that’s when you say “Amen” and know without doubt: it is done.
