How did love find you?
Do you know that sometimes
she comes to you in the most unlikely ways?
Sometimes
She comes in the smiling eyes
And the gentle touch of a maternal hand.
At other times,
she comes wrapped up in papa’s protective arms.
I once saw her
Looking at me through a little baby’s innocent eyes;
And felt her through those tiny soft hands
That softly clasped around my neck for comfort,
and in the rhythmic thump, thump of that little chest.
When that little pup lapped my face with tail a-wag,
and puss purred under your touch, she was there.
Have you ever seen her in the warmth and chumminess of chums?
Or in the taste of melted chocolate in your mouth the other day
When two hearts shared a bar from the golden tree?
When two eyes meet and hold across the vast hall,
And become oblivious to the swirling mass of humanity around
And the two souls knit,
Do you see her lurking around the corner?
I heard her in your voice
The first time I heard you say your name.
For me,
I’ve felt her in the soft touch of your lips on mine
And in the cozy evenings when the world disappears
And we’re alone,
Drinking of passions deep.
In the afterglow, when tempests are stilled,
I feel her in the tenderness of your fingers
tracing doodles on my face
and in the promised happily ever after we share.
And so I ask once more,
How did love find you?
